If You Do Things, They Will Come

I'm so giddy, I could pee!!!  We recently added compost, sand, gypsum and lots of love to this section of the garden.

Yes, yes, yes, the two of you that follow along at home can tell I'm doing things out of order, but at the end of the day it all ends up here.  But, while I was digging all of this soil into my inert earth, I found exactly...exactly...zero earth worms!  Two weeks later we planted, and I found this...

Isn't she beautiful?  Yes, if you try, things will change for the better.  And, of course, I cut it in half so I had two.  Do you think I'm an idiot?

  1. I thought this post was going to be about something else. I'm very disappointed.

By the way, pee isn't something you should add to compost. It'll kill shit. (pun intended)

Oh and, erm, That's a pretty worm ya got there!

Does it come with a straightjacket? :)

  2. I think I would have let the worm reproduce naturally. Not sure that it really makes two worms if you cut them in half. Maybe if you made the cut at the clitellum it would work. Is that what it's called? Lou Murray

  3. Oh, please don't pee in the garden, you'll scare the neighbors.

It looks like there's at least three of us following along at home :D

I've had those sterile gardens, where you put in a shovel, and all you see is a shovel in dirt. I was pretty giddy too when the worms showed up. It was assurance that I must be doing something right! Yay worm...or is that worms? I hope it survived your reproduction experiment :P
