As I said, it was many moons ago that I did this so hell if I remember what was where and why. I couldn't have forgotten to hook the line in before covering it with, well, everything. Could I? (My wife would say, "yes".) I found the line from water bubbling through the ground and dug it up. Hole where a shovel pierced it. Maybe that's the problem. Fixed the line and another geyser coming out of the ground a few feet on. I dug that up. I found this:
Aha! Now I remember. This is where I hooked into the existing line. The pipe going out the top leads into the garden. I hooked into the line to the right. Unfortunately, that's the outgoing! The incoming is the one on the left. Hells bells.
Easily fixed. Now, I have water gushing from the spots it's supposed to. Now to do the rest. It has been so ungodly hot, though, and this took hours to figure out, that the rest will be done later. I hate living in the desert.
That's pretty much a small issue. It could have been much worse.
ReplyDeleteYou know you're going to have to dig it up again, don't you. There's always a problem just after you think you've got it right!
Absolutely, IG. I didn't even bother filling any of the holes back in. I give it until Thursday before I break out the backhoe.
DeleteAfter I set all of my drip lines and sprinkler heads up this year, I set the timer expecting smooth watering the next morning. What I saw at 6:00 am was water shooting up everywhere. All of the sprinkler heads blew (blue, bloo, ?) off and it looked like the Bellagio fountains in Vegas. Never did find the heads. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteHiker, it's like a tell my son, the mistakes are the funniest part that make it all worthwhile.
DeleteWe all have those gardening oopses. At least you have your underground pipe in, we're still working on ours, but I'm too danged lazy to dig in the soil when it's hard as cement this time of year. Of course, when the ground is wet, I'll say I don't want to dig in the rain ;) Glad you figured out where ol' faithful was spurting from though, and yay for progress on the veggie beds!
ReplyDeleteCurbstone, with the 102F we're having and the dirt/concrete ground, I'll gladly take digging in the mud at this point. I'm quite done with summer. It's too damn hot to sow my winter seeds, and for the first time I actually have some to sow!
DeleteGeysers in the garden. Wow!
